Aeon buys Aware Health assets in EUR expansion push
Mon, 21st Sep 2026 (Today)
Aeon has closed a seed extension and acquired the core assets of German consumer blood diagnostics platform Aware Health, taking its total seed funding to more than USD $14 million.
The transaction adds Aware Health's technology platform, key contracts and equipment, customer relationships, and core team. Aware Health's Berlin team will continue under the Aeon brand.
The round was co-led by Araya Ventures, with participation from existing investors Concentric, GoHub Ventures, Kadmos Capital, Calm/Storm Ventures, N&V Capital, and Bigwave Capital. The new funding will support the integration of Aware Health's business and technology as Aeon expands in Europe.
The acquisition strengthens Aeon's presence in Germany, its fastest-growing market. It also adds a diagnostics operation with live laboratory integrations, a network of more than 45 blood-draw locations, and close to 10,000 active customers.
Aware Health offered more than 100 biomarkers through a range of preventive health test panels. The business also brings a longitudinal biomarker dataset built from recurring testing, which Aeon plans to use to develop predictive health models.
Aeon combines whole-body imaging, blood diagnostics, and artificial intelligence to build ongoing health records for customers. More than 90 per cent of its check-ups already surface actionable findings, while its significant finding rate stands at 15.4 per cent.
Chief Executive Officer Tim Seithe said the deal shortens the company's development timetable.
"We are redefining preventive care by shifting it from reaction to action," said Tim Seithe, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aeon. "Imaging tells you where you are. Blood diagnostics tell you where you are heading. AI is what connects the two into prediction. The acquisition of Aware Health accelerates that vision by two years, and this round gives us everything we need to execute."
AI expansion
Alongside the acquisition, Aeon has expanded its artificial intelligence team by appointing Pablo Tano as AI Lead. Tano has published research in Nature on reinforcement learning in the brain, worked with Peter Dayan and Alexandre Pouget, and was part of the winning team in Meta's MyoChallenge.
At Aeon, Tano will oversee models that analyse imaging, blood biomarkers, and genetic data. Those systems are intended to generate personalised risk prediction and tailored health interventions for customers.
Investors in the latest round said the business is trying to create a broader picture of health by combining several data streams over time.
"Aeon is building something genuinely new in European healthcare," said Rupa Popat, Founder and Managing Partner of Araya Ventures. "The combination of imaging, recurring blood diagnostics, and AI creates a longitudinal health picture that no other platform in Europe offers. We are proud to back Tim and the team at this moment."
Germany focus
Germany has become a central market for the company since its launch there earlier this year. By acquiring Aware Health's assets rather than building a diagnostics network from scratch, Aeon gains infrastructure that would otherwise have taken longer to assemble in Europe's largest healthcare economy.
Aeon said customer data from Aware Health will be transferred only with each customer's explicit consent and in accordance with GDPR. That is likely to be significant given the sensitivity of medical and diagnostic records and the role of artificial intelligence in the company's model.
Aeon's wider proposition is built around whole-body MRI, blood diagnostics, and analysis of genetic risks. Its platform can detect more than 500 possible anomalies across the brain, organs, and vessels through imaging, alongside blood testing covering more than 100 biomarkers.
For Aware Health's founders, the deal gives the German platform a route into a broader service offering rather than continuing as a standalone blood diagnostics business.
"What I am most proud of is what our team built at Aware: a trusted consumer health brand and a platform that made advanced diagnostics accessible and easy to understand," said Ferdinand Schmidt-Thomé, Co-Founder of Aware Health. "The acquisition gives what we built the opportunity to continue growing as part of a broader preventive health offering. The combination with whole-body imaging and Aeon's AI genuinely changes what preventive health looks like in Europe."
