ATLAS launches cyber-resilient storage system at INNOPROM

ATLAS has launched ATLAS.X Secure, a cyber-resilient data storage system that it describes as the first Russian-made product to combine storage hardware and cyberthreat protection in a single architecture.

The system was presented to Russian and overseas delegations at INNOPROM in Yekaterinburg, a major industrial exhibition that brings together government officials, manufacturers and foreign trade partners.

Designed for the Russian market as well as partner countries in Africa, Asia and other regions, the system is aimed at critical information infrastructure in industry, energy, transport and finance, as well as government information systems and corporate data centres.

At the core of the product is an effort to address a long-standing issue in corporate technology estates. Storage systems and information security tools are often bought and managed separately, often from different suppliers, leaving a gap where the two meet.

That junction has become a growing concern for companies facing ransomware and data theft risks. ATLAS.X Secure is intended to remove the need for customers to integrate separate storage and security products themselves by building the protection layer directly into the storage architecture.

The product was developed with TRIADIX, a cybersecurity company whose work includes penetration testing, incident monitoring and infrastructure security audits. ATLAS contributed its experience in fault-tolerant storage systems to the joint effort.

Target sectors

The system can be used in IT environments of different sizes, but its initial focus is on operators of essential services and institutions that manage sensitive or high-volume data. These are markets where resilience, recovery and access control are central purchasing criteria.

The launch also reflects a broader push by Russian technology groups to sell infrastructure products beyond their domestic market. ATLAS said it had built the system for use not only in Russia but also in countries it describes as partners and friendly states.

Many governments and businesses in Africa, Asia and Southeast Asia are expanding digital infrastructure, including power networks, transport systems, banking platforms and public sector services. In such markets, new systems can roll out faster than the supply of specialist security staff needed to integrate and manage separate layers of storage and protection.

That shortage has increased interest in systems that reduce the need for cross-vendor integration. Buyers setting up new infrastructure may see value in a design that combines storage and cyber defence in the same stack, rather than relying on separate products that must be linked and maintained over time.

International push

INNOPROM has become one of Russia's main venues for presenting industrial and technology products to foreign delegations. This year's exhibition drew about 900 companies and delegations from more than 50 countries, with Indonesia serving as the partner country.

For ATLAS, the event provided a platform to present the system to both domestic decision-makers and overseas officials considering technology procurement and industrial cooperation. The company is seeking to compete not only in storage equipment but also in systems that combine data protection and infrastructure resilience in a single product.

That ambition comes as many countries in the Global South broaden their choice of infrastructure suppliers. For technology vendors outside the traditional Western supplier base, the shift has created openings in markets that are building or renewing digital back-end systems for utilities, finance and public administration.

ATLAS also argues that the economics may favour a combined design. A single architecture, it said, can reduce the cost and complexity of combining tools from multiple suppliers while lowering the number of points where implementation or maintenance errors can occur.

Timur Mustafaev, Chief Executive Officer of ATLAS, said the company's experience in storage systems had shaped the design. "We have worked in data storage for many years, and we know this field from the inside, including exactly where the most dangerous vulnerabilities appear. The weak point is never the storage system alone, or the security system alone; it is the seam between them, a zone that ends up belonging to no one. ATLAS.X Secure solves that problem: it is a storage system in which cyberthreat protection is part of the architecture itself, not an add-on. We chose to present it at a forum that this year brought together not only Russian companies but partners from friendly countries abroad, because protecting data is a challenge every country's infrastructure now faces."
