DroneShield and Defenture have signed a memorandum of understanding on mobile counter-UAS systems, centred on integrating DroneShield technology with Defenture vehicle platforms.
The arrangement is intended to support military and security users that need to detect and respond to drone threats while moving, reflecting broader demand for mobile protection against unmanned aircraft.
Under the agreement, DroneShield's counter-drone hardware, software, command-and-control tools and operational support will be combined with Defenture's tactical vehicle platforms. The companies plan to pursue joint commercial work, including customer engagement, testing, interoperability milestones and selected market opportunities.
This is expected to include offering DroneShield's current and next-generation counter-UAS systems on Defenture platforms such as the Mammoth and GRF. The companies will also develop layered, on-the-move counter-UAS concepts for customer discussions.
Mobile focus
The tie-up comes as armed forces and security operators place greater emphasis on mobility and force protection in response to the spread of drone use in conflict zones. Vehicle-based counter-UAS systems are attracting growing interest as militaries look to protect mobile units, not just fixed sites.
DroneShield, which is listed on the ASX, said its products are used across military, intelligence, government, law enforcement, critical infrastructure and airport markets. It describes its business as focused on protection against drones and autonomous systems across land, maritime and airborne platforms.
Netherlands-based Defenture designs, develops, produces and maintains light tactical mobility vehicles for military and specialised units. In the partnership, it will provide vehicle-platform expertise for systems intended to operate on the move.
The memorandum was signed at Eurosatory 2026, a defence and security trade show, where the companies formalised the agreement.
Louis Gamarra, Chief Commercial Officer at DroneShield, outlined the commercial rationale behind the move.
"Many military customers are looking for scalable and mobile counter-UAS solutions that can be deployed quickly and operate effectively in dynamic environments. DroneShield's new partnership with Defenture brings together complementary strengths to support that requirement and create a pathway for joint opportunities in key markets," Gamarra said.
European demand
The agreement points to continued demand in Europe for counter-UAS systems that can be integrated into existing military vehicles rather than fielded as standalone installations. Interoperability has become a central issue for defence buyers as they seek to combine sensors, jammers, software and command systems from different suppliers.
For DroneShield, the partnership offers a route into mounted applications through an established European vehicle manufacturer. For Defenture, it adds a counter-drone element to its tactical mobility offering at a time when drone threats are becoming a standard planning consideration for land forces.
Roderick Toutenhoofd, Board Member at Defenture, described the company's view of the operational need for such systems.
"By combining Defenture's mobile platform capability with DroneShield's proven counter-UAS technologies, we are better placed to support customers seeking agile, layered protection against evolving drone threats. The evolution of modern drone warfare has made clear that traditional platforms now require UAS protection, and partnering with DroneShield allows us to bring that capability to market in a way that is practical, mobile and operationally relevant," Toutenhoofd said.
