Envirotainer names Maersk veteran as chief executive

Envirotainer has appointed Aymeric Chandavoine as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Interim Chief Executive Officer Niklas Adamsson.

He is due to take up the role in May 2026, as the company responds to rising complexity in pharmaceutical supply chains.

Chandavoine joins from Maersk, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President & President, Europe. Before that, he was Head of Global Logistics & Services, helping expand the group's integrated logistics business.

Envirotainer specialises in temperature-controlled transport for pharmaceuticals, operating in the cold chain segment of the drug supply industry, where biologics and other temperature-sensitive medicines require tightly managed shipping conditions.

The leadership change comes as the pharmaceutical logistics sector faces mounting operational demands. Growth in temperature-sensitive biologic medicines, stricter regulatory oversight and more complex international distribution networks have increased pressure on cross-border drug shipments.

That has heightened the importance of providers that can maintain temperature control in transit. For pharmaceutical manufacturers, any disruption can affect both product integrity and delivery schedules.

Supply chain pressure

Cold chain logistics has become a more prominent part of the pharmaceutical industry as advanced therapies move through global transport networks. These products often require close monitoring and stable conditions from production through to distribution.

Commenting on his appointment, Chandavoine pointed to the growing strain on drug transport systems.

Envirotainer has operated in pharmaceutical transport for four decades. Major drugmakers use its temperature-controlled shipping products and monitoring services to move medicines through international supply routes.

The company offers a range of cold chain options for different shipment sizes, from commercial volumes to smaller consignments such as patient samples. It also runs a global network to support the movement of pharmaceutical products at different stages of development and distribution.

Sustainability is also part of its operating agenda. Envirotainer uses science-based targets, emissions reporting and product-level carbon measurement in its efforts to reduce its own environmental impact and that of customers.

Chandavoine's arrival marks a permanent leadership change after Adamsson's period as interim chief. The appointment puts a senior logistics executive from one of the world's largest shipping and transport groups at the head of a business serving a specialised part of the pharmaceutical supply chain.

The appointment also comes as pharmaceutical companies continue to reassess how medicines are moved across increasingly international supply networks.

For Envirotainer, maintaining dependable operations will remain important as customers manage products with tighter temperature and handling requirements.

Chandavoine's experience in global logistics is expected to support the company as it works with manufacturers, distributors and other partners across different markets.
