Hetzner has added four Dell-based dedicated server models to its enterprise portfolio, extending its range of dedicated infrastructure for business customers.

The new line comprises the DX154-1, DX154-2, DX294-1 and DX294-2. The servers are based on Dell PowerEdge R470 hardware and use Intel Xeon Gold processors from the Granite Rapids generation.

The DX154 models are fitted with Intel Xeon Gold 6741P chips with 48 cores, while the DX294 models use Intel Xeon Gold 6787P processors with 86 cores. They also support Intel Hyper-Threading for processor utilisation and Intel VT for virtualisation.

Memory configurations vary across the range. The DX154-1 and DX154-2 are offered with 128 GB or 256 GB of DDR5 RDIMM RAM, while the DX294-1 and DX294-2 come with 256 GB or 512 GB of RDIMM RAM.

Storage is based on Gen4 NVMe SSD Datacenter Edition drives. The "-1" versions include two 960 GB NVMe SSDs, while the "-2" versions include four 1.92 TB NVMe SSDs.

Security focus

The systems include Intel SGX and EPC to provide protected memory areas for sensitive applications. They also feature iDRAC 10 for remote administration and redundant hot-plug power supplies.

The Dell PowerEdge R470 platform also supports accelerator technologies designed to shift some work away from the main processor in data-intensive environments.

Pricing and locations

The new dedicated servers start at €705.70 per month, or USD $830.90 per month, and include two IPv4 addresses. A one-off setup fee of €349.00, or USD $414.00, also applies.

Operations are based in Hetzner data centres in Nuremberg and Helsinki, which are ISO 27001-certified. This keeps data within European legal jurisdiction and subject to the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The launch adds to a business that has built much of its profile around dedicated servers and virtualised server infrastructure. Founded in Germany in 1997, Hetzner operates data centre sites in Nuremberg, Falkenstein and Helsinki, and has also invested in infrastructure in Singapore and the United States.

Hetzner is one of the larger internet infrastructure providers in Europe, with several thousand servers housed in its own facilities. Its customer base spans organisations that rent infrastructure rather than operate server hardware on their own premises.

For those customers, the latest models add another option in the market for single-tenant hosted infrastructure, where buyers typically weigh processor density, memory capacity, storage format, data location and management access alongside monthly rental charges.

Within that segment, the main distinction between the DX154 and DX294 lines is processor core counts and memory ceilings. Customers with more modest compute requirements may prefer the 48-core systems, while those running larger virtualisation estates or heavier application workloads may opt for the 86-core versions.

Storage options also distinguish the entry configurations from the larger variants. The use of NVMe drives across all four servers indicates that Hetzner is positioning the range around flash storage rather than mixed or hard-disk-based configurations.

The emphasis on European hosting locations is notable at a time when data residency remains a procurement issue for many companies. The systems run in Hetzner's own facilities in Germany and Finland, keeping customer data under European jurisdiction.
