Open Point unveils unified engagement & stakeholder hub

Wed, 18th Mar 2026

Open Point has launched a unified software platform that combines its community engagement product, Social Point, with stakeholder management tools from Consultation Manager.

The platform brings what were separate products under a single brand and user experience. Social Point was previously known as Social Pinpoint. Consultation Manager remains the stakeholder management component of the combined offer.

Open Point positions the platform as a system of record for organisations running complex community infrastructure and planning projects, linking the launch to rising project scale and heightened public scrutiny. It argues that community feedback and stakeholder commitments often affect each other over long project timelines.

In major programmes, consultation activity and stakeholder obligations often sit in different tools and datasets. This can fragment information and reduce continuity when teams change, making it harder to show how decisions were reached or what actions followed from feedback.

Open Point has more than 750 customers globally. It targets organisations with formal engagement duties and compliance requirements, including those in regulated environments and those that face audit and approval gates during delivery.

Two products

Social Point remains the community-facing engagement component. It supports digital participation and is designed for organisations that run high-volume consultations. Engagement teams use it to collect feedback and report on themes.

Consultation Manager provides stakeholder management functions. It stores stakeholder records and engagement obligations, and tracks interactions and commitments across programmes. In the unified platform, the stakeholder view sits alongside the broader community consultation record.

Open Point describes the combined system as providing a traceable engagement history across project lifecycles, covering online and offline interactions as well as relationships and commitments. It also provides views of themes, issues, actions, risks, and responsibilities.

Compliance focus

Open Point is emphasising accountability and auditability as central themes of the unified platform. Infrastructure sponsors and planning authorities often face statutory consultation requirements and governance standards, and many must show how public feedback and stakeholder conditions were considered during design changes, approvals, and delivery.

A single record, Open Point argues, helps organisations demonstrate compliance and retain institutional memory. It also aims to connect early engagement with later delivery commitments, particularly where long timelines and multiple parties can weaken continuity.

Ben Cowling, CEO of Open Point, said the platform is aimed at organisations working under strict controls.

"For our customers, engagement isn't optional-it's fundamental to delivering projects in strictly controlled environments. Without a clear system of record, organisations face real risks around compliance, auditability, and approvals. Our customers don't want more complexity. They want confidence that engagement is defensible, connected, and genuinely informs better outcomes. Open Point delivers that by unifying two best-in-class tools they already trust."

Operational workflow

Open Point says the combined platform supports a continuous workflow for engagement across long-running programmes. It frames the approach as a way for different teams to work from a shared view of activity, rather than maintaining separate records for consultation and stakeholder obligations.

In the unified environment, community insight and stakeholder commitments sit side by side. Open Point says this makes it easier to track decisions and outcomes over a project timeline and can improve risk management by keeping actions and responsibilities connected to the engagement record.

The launch also formalises a brand change: Social Pinpoint becomes Social Point as part of the unified platform. Open Point is using its name for the overall offer, with Social Point and Consultation Manager as the two core product lines within the platform.

Open Point will continue to develop the integrated platform around record-keeping, traceability, and the connection between community feedback and stakeholder obligations across infrastructure and planning project lifecycles.
