Remote rebrands as financial operating system for workforce

Remote has introduced a new brand identity and repositioned itself as a financial operating system for the global workforce, reflecting its focus on payroll and employment management in more than 150 countries.
The rebrand comes as cross-border payroll grows more complex for employers and demand for Remote's services expands beyond technology companies. Remote says it processes billions in payroll each year and that its payroll business grew 300% year on year.
Remote provides Employer of Record, global payroll, contractor management and Professional Employer Organisation services through a single platform. Payroll, employment and workforce data are held in one system of record, with support for different employment models, including direct employment, Employer of Record and contractor management.
The company also says it builds and owns its platform, operates its own compliance systems and maintains its own legal entities for Employer of Record services. Customers can also use open API, MCP and CLI access to extend the platform.
Its customers include Anthropic, Box, GitLab, Lovable, Vercel, Miro, Datadog and Zapier. Remote also says it is seeing increased demand from sectors outside technology, though it did not specify which industries are driving that growth most strongly.
Brand shift
The repositioning puts greater emphasis on payroll as infrastructure rather than an administrative function. Remote links that shift to the growing difficulty companies face when hiring and paying workers across multiple jurisdictions.
Remote worked with design agency Collins on the new identity. As part of the rollout, it is introducing the slogan "For a World That Works" and updating its visual design, including a colour palette based on currencies and a cube motif intended to represent infrastructure.
Job van der Voort, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Remote, described the change as part of a broader push to focus on cross-border hiring and pay.
"Our mission is distilled into three words: pay the world," said Job van der Voort, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Remote. "A few months ago, we announced we were going all in on building the infrastructure to solve the really hard stuff: hiring and paying people compliantly, globally. Today, our brand matches the ambition and innovation of what we're building. We're super excited to share it with the world."
Market context
Companies employing staff across several countries often need to manage local tax rules, employment law, benefits requirements and payroll schedules in each market. That has created a large market for providers that combine payroll processing with employment compliance and local legal structures.
Remote is one of several companies competing in that market, which has expanded as remote and distributed working models have spread. Its emphasis on owning infrastructure and legal entities suggests an attempt to distinguish its model from rivals that rely more heavily on partners or third-party systems.
Remote says its in-country legal, payroll and compliance specialists track regulatory changes in the markets where it operates. It also says each transaction adds operational context to the system, alongside the central record of payroll and workforce data.
By tying the rebrand closely to payroll and workforce finance, Remote seeks to broaden how customers understand the business, particularly among those who may have previously associated it mainly with Employer of Record services. The company says the platform is designed to support businesses as they change hiring strategies without having to rebuild payroll processes from scratch.
Remote says tens of thousands of companies use its services to hire and pay workers internationally. It operates in more than 150 countries.
