Renewtech has appointed Claudio Christensen as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Bjarne Aarup Andersen, who will join the board.
Christensen takes over on 18 May 2026 as the refurbished IT hardware supplier operates across Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and France, serving customers in more than 80 countries.
He joins from Ahlsell Denmark, where he was Country Managing Director, following earlier roles at IBM, Solar and other technology and distribution businesses.
Andersen had led Renewtech since before its acquisition by Trill Impact. During his tenure, the company expanded from a Danish IT hardware specialist into a broader European operation focused on refurbished hardware and lifecycle services.
These services include IT asset disposal, third-party maintenance and repair, alongside the supply of refurbished servers, storage and networking equipment. Renewtech is headquartered in Aars, Denmark, and is majority-owned by Trill Impact, a European private markets investor with EUR €1.4 billion in assets under management.
Leadership change
A structured handover is planned for customers, partners and employees. Andersen will remain involved through his new role as a Member of the Board of Directors.
His time as Chief Executive Officer included both the company's rebranding and its expansion into multiple European markets. Renewtech has positioned itself around the resale and servicing of used enterprise IT equipment, an area that has drawn growing attention as companies look to manage technology spending and extend hardware lifecycles.
Commenting on the transition, Andersen said Christensen's experience suited the company's next phase.
"Leading Renewtech through this period has been something I am genuinely proud of," said Bjarne Aarup Andersen, Outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Renewtech. "We have built a business that is growing, that takes sustainability seriously, and that has good people at its core. Claudio has the right experience for where we are going - he has been through ownership transitions, integrations and growth phases before and knows how to keep a business moving through all of it. I am confident the company is in good hands."
Sector background
Christensen brings experience in both technology and industrial distribution. At Ahlsell Denmark, he oversaw commercial and operational growth and led the business through an ownership transition and acquisitions in the Danish market.
Earlier in his career, he spent a significant period at IBM before moving into senior roles in distribution and technology companies. He also holds an Executive MBA from Henley Business School.
The appointment comes as the market for refurbished IT equipment continues to develop across Europe. Companies facing tighter technology budgets and greater scrutiny of waste and emissions are increasingly looking to extend the life of servers, storage systems and networking equipment rather than replace them outright.
Renewtech's model centres on that market, combining used hardware sales with maintenance, repair and disposal services. It argues that refurbished IT can appeal to customers on both cost and environmental grounds, particularly in enterprise settings where refresh cycles can generate large volumes of retired hardware.
Christensen pointed to those factors in his first remarks after taking the role.
"Renewtech has a clear proposition and a strong team. The case for refurbished IT is straightforward - it is better for costs, better for sustainability, and increasingly what enterprise customers are looking for. What I have seen of this business gives me confidence in the foundation we are building on. I look forward to working with the team and with Trill Impact to continue growing what has been built here," said Claudio Christensen, Incoming Chief Executive Officer, Renewtech.
His appointment marks a leadership shift as Renewtech moves from a founder-style growth period under Andersen into a new phase under an executive with experience in larger organisations and ownership change.
The incoming chief executive takes charge of a company spanning five European markets and selling into more than 80 countries, with a business built around extending the useful life of IT equipment and managing assets at the end of that lifecycle.
