Adobe has released its Premiere mobile video editing app for Android.

The free app expands Adobe's mobile editing offering beyond iPhone.

Premiere mobile is now available on Android devices running Android 13 or later with at least 5GB of RAM. It is designed for Android hardware, including foldable phones, and features an adaptive user interface.

Positioned as a simplified version of Adobe's established video editing software, Premiere mobile is aimed at creators producing content on smartphones. It includes a multi-track timeline for layering video, music, voiceovers and effects, along with frame-accurate editing tools for finer control over cuts and timing.

Audio is a central part of the release. The Android version includes Enhance Audio, which reduces background noise and improves speech clarity in interviews, voiceovers and other recordings made in less controlled environments.

Users can start edits from creator-made templates or build their own. The app supports effects, transitions, creative assets and music from Adobe Stock, a user's own files or extracted audio, and allows editing and exporting at up to 4K resolution.

Adobe is also using the Android launch to widen access to Firefly-based artificial intelligence tools in the app. These include Generative Fill, Image-to-Video and Generate Sound Effects, which can be used to create assets within mobile editing workflows.

The free version includes core editing tools, while paid upgrades add extra generative credits and storage. The Android app also has no ads, no watermark and no forced login or upgrade prompts during use.

Mobile push

The Android release reflects a broader shift in video production towards smartphones, particularly for short-form social content, vlogs, tutorials and podcast clips. Creators are increasingly capturing and editing material while travelling, commuting or working away from traditional production setups.

That trend has led software providers to adapt professional editing tools for smaller screens and touch interfaces. For Adobe, Premiere mobile appears to be part of a broader effort to bring its editing software to casual and semi-professional users who may not start projects on desktop systems.

Premiere mobile has gained traction on iPhone since its earlier debut there. By adding Android support, Adobe is opening the app to a much larger share of the global smartphone market, where Android devices account for most handset shipments.

Feature set

Several tools in the Android app are aimed at reducing the steps needed to prepare social video. Users can combine multiple media layers in one timeline, clean up audio, add transitions and effects, and pull in music or assets without switching between apps.

Adobe is also trying to distinguish the app through device-specific design. The software was built to work across a range of Android phones, including foldables, which have become a small but growing category in the premium handset market.

For Adobe, the Android expansion adds another route into the creator economy, where demand for mobile-first editing tools has intensified. Competition in that segment includes social platform editing suites, standalone mobile apps and lighter versions of desktop production software adapted for smartphones.

More functions are planned for later versions of Premiere mobile, including Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, keyframes, cropping, beat detection and the ability to continue editing on Premiere desktop.

Premiere mobile on Android is available now for free, with editing and exporting support up to 4K and access to AI features through Firefly-based tools.
