Portnox reported 52% year-on-year growth in second-quarter bookings and said it now manages more than one million devices.

The figures point to rising demand for tools that monitor and govern access across both staff and non-human identities, including service accounts, workloads and unmanaged devices.

In the first half of the year, Portnox expanded its global footprint beyond one million managed devices. It also said it now secures more than 40 million authentication sessions each day and blocks more than one million unauthorised access attempts daily.

The growth comes as businesses face a broader set of access risks across distributed networks, applications and infrastructure. Alongside employees using managed devices, organisations are increasingly dealing with AI agents, contractors, guests and connected systems that require different forms of verification and oversight.

Portnox argued that this shift is changing how access decisions are made. Rather than checking a user or device only at the point of connection, companies are under pressure to reassess identity context, device posture, policy compliance and risk on an ongoing basis.

"Access can no longer be treated as a one-time decision made when a user or device first connects," said Denny LeCompte, Chief Executive Officer, Portnox.

"Organisations need to understand not only who and what has access, but whether that access should continue as circumstances change. The rapid growth of human and non-human identities is making continuous visibility, verification, and control essential to reducing the attack surface," LeCompte said.

Product changes

During the first half, Portnox expanded its Portnox Cloud platform to cover a wider range of identities, devices and access scenarios. The changes were aimed at simplifying onboarding and policy enforcement for customers managing temporary and remote connections.

One addition was Captive Portal, a standalone product for guest, visitor and contractor access. It is designed to give customers more visibility and control over short-term connections that often sit outside standard employee access policies.

Portnox also extended its Zero Trust Network Access offering to include terminal and console access for RDP, SSH, VNC and Telnet. The company said this allows customers to manage and audit access to these sessions without opening wider network pathways.

Another update added session recording with AI-generated summaries to its Zero Trust Network Access service. The feature is intended to show what took place during a session as well as whether access was granted.

Channel growth

Portnox also highlighted expansion in its reseller business. It launched PartnerEdge in the first half to support resellers building cloud-based access security practices.

Channel contribution rose 306% from the same period a year earlier. Portnox linked that increase to partner interest in alternatives to access security deployments that depend on heavier on-site infrastructure.

The channel team provided a brief explanation of the figures.

"Partners are seeing customers look for faster and less complex ways to modernize how they control access," said Kristen Knight, Vice President of Channel Sales, Portnox. "PartnerEdge gives resellers the enablement, protection, and support they need to guide that transition while building a sustainable access-security practice."

Leadership changes

Portnox also expanded its leadership team in the first half. Knight joined as Vice President of Channel Sales, while Jonathan Skinner was named Chief Marketing Officer and David Bietler became Vice President of Go-To-Market Operations.

Those appointments came as Portnox sought to build out its sales, partner and marketing functions during a period of growth. It also pointed to industry awards for its cloud platform, including recognition in authentication technology and cybersecurity software categories.

Skinner outlined the company's view of the market as identity sprawl increases across corporate systems.

"The next phase of access security will be defined by an organization's ability to continuously govern access across every identity and environment, not simply authenticate more connections," said Jonathan Skinner, Chief Marketing Officer, Portnox. "Portnox is focused on giving customers and partners that control without adding more infrastructure or operational complexity."
