Scality appoints Greg DiFraia to lead AI alliances

Thu, 23rd Apr 2026 (Today)

Scality has appointed Greg DiFraia as Senior Vice President of AI Alliances and Partnerships. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Inlayer.

He will lead Scality's global AI ecosystem strategy, overseeing partnerships and go-to-market efforts tied to enterprise AI deployments.

DiFraia returns to Scality after a previous five-year stint at the storage software company, where he held roles including General Manager and Field CTO. During that time, he helped expand the business and broaden its market reach.

His career has spanned storage, alliances and sales leadership roles across several technology suppliers. Before rejoining Scality, he led Inlayer as Chief Executive Officer and earlier served as Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Turbonomic.

He also held several senior positions at Dell EMC, including leading global sales for the ECS software-defined storage platform. He was also involved in the product launch teams for Atmos and ECS, both object storage platforms.

AI focus

The appointment comes as Scality increases its emphasis on AI-related partnerships. DiFraia will work with technology suppliers, systems integrators and cloud platforms as the company looks to expand its partner network around enterprise AI workloads.

This effort sits alongside an AI ecosystem certification programme that includes validations across more than 20 AI and machine learning tools and frameworks.

For storage suppliers, alliances have become a key route into AI projects as customers assemble systems from a mix of infrastructure, software and cloud services. Vendors are increasingly using partner programmes to secure a role in those deployments, particularly where data management and storage architecture affect model training, inference and governance.

Scality has positioned itself around object storage and cyber-resilience, two areas drawing increased attention as companies manage growing data volumes and protect information used in AI systems. Its software is designed to address storage growth, security and cost pressures.

DiFraia said partnerships will be central to that effort.

"AI is fundamentally changing how organisations think about data infrastructure, and partnerships are critical to delivering real outcomes for customers," said Greg DiFraia, Senior Vice President of AI Alliances and Partnerships at Scality. "Scality is uniquely positioned with its cyber-resilient storage platform, and I'm excited to build an ecosystem that helps customers scale AI initiatives with confidence."

His return also brings back an executive with direct knowledge of Scality's operations and sales approach. That familiarity may help the company expand its presence in AI-related infrastructure projects while competing in a crowded storage market.

Industry suppliers have been revisiting channel structures and alliance teams as enterprises move from AI experimentation to production deployments. Those projects often require closer coordination among storage companies, chipmakers, cloud providers, model software firms and consulting groups.

Scality Chief Revenue Officer Emilio Roman linked the appointment to that broader push.

"I am thrilled to have Greg rejoin us after his experience leading a successful new SaaS venture in a chief executive officer capacity. This builds upon his already extensive sales leadership, product strategy, and P&L responsibilities in both large and innovative companies in the storage industry. He is the ideal leader to spearhead Scality's strategic alliances now and into the future for key initiatives in enterprise AI, cyber-resilience, and sovereign control," said Emilio Roman, Chief Revenue Officer at Scality.
